Road profiling machines are used to remove asphalt and concrete surfaces to create an even, relatively smooth base for the construction of a new surface. The machines use advanced technology to remove material to a precise level - quickly and highly efficiently.

1. Removal of failing asphalt (road pavement)
When an asphalt surface doesn’t hold its original shape and the material becomes stressed you get pavement failure issues. Some of the issues of pavement failure are potholes, cracking, rutting and depressions.
In order to fix or rehabilitate the road it is necessary to remove the damaged or failing surface so a new surface can be laid. A road profiling machine can remove individual layers to pinpoint precision leaving a perfect base for future road laying.
The surface material removed can be separated for re-use either on site or on other projects.
2. Removal of entire road pavements for full road reconstruction
Sometimes it’s necessary to remove the entire road for full road reconstruction. Material can be removed economically either at full depth or layer by layer.
The road profiler allows for fast and efficient completion of work by combining different processes. At the same time the machine removes the road base, crushes the material to a prescribed size for reuse and fills the accompanying truck.
3. Milling tie-ins for asphalt overlays
Before an asphalt overlay is applied the road surface usually needs to be prepared so it is structurally sound, level, clean and able to bond to the overlay. Profiling machines are used in this process to mill the road surface to create a level surface for the future overlay. Milling removes the high points to leave a relatively smooth surface which is still suitable for traffic temporarily until the final surface is overlaid.
4. Fine milling
Profiling machines can be fitted with a variety of milling drums to allow for a wide variety of applications from bulk removal to very fine milling.
The tool spacing on the drum dictates how fine the milling is. Ultra fine milling removes only a small amount of surface at a time and is used to remove surface deformations, producing a very fine result.
5. Road marking removal
Road marking such as lane markings, zebra crossings, directional arrows and temporary line marking can be removed easily using a road profiler. Precision equipment allows for working around existing road fixtures without the needing additional work by hand.
6. Concrete and rock removal
Road profiling machines aren’t limited to stripping asphalt from roads. By using different milling drums they can be used for concrete and rock, for example to lower track beds and tunnel floors or to level foundations.
